After going over the syllabus, I feel like the class will help me view the world differently as I’ve never really thought about stuff like this before. I also think interacting with my peers in this class will help me build my sense of community that i still haven’t really found since starting at CCNY.

I have observed people to try to understand them better before, and an example of that would be when I had watched people and groups in my middle school to try to better understand how to interact with others and how to better understand social cues, as I was never a really social person growing up. I had only observed for a little while for around a week or so before deciding I was too lazy to just sit around and watch people, but in that time i did learn how people talked with one another and how to start a conversation just by watching and practicing a bit after that week. 

Currently, I engage with cultures and communities around me by going into more ethnically diverse neighborhoods and trying different cultural cuisines and staples. There isn’t really a specific group or space that has stood out to me recently, as most of the time I just stay in my own neighborhood and don’t go out that much, Although in the past I have found hispanic culture and practices interesting as from what ive seen, the food is different then what I would usually eat and experiencing new things through food is something that I love to do.
