Hi guys. It is Anto. My full name is Aliffaq Anto (He/Him(not part of my name) and I am an electrical engineering major.
First of all, I originally expected the course to be extremely hard. I was think we would have a bunch of research papers where we need 10 pages each paper and we would need a billion sources but after we went over the syllabus and all the stuff in class, I’m way more excited about the class than I was before. The workload is very fair and it doesn’t seem like it will give me a headache. There are definitely some stuff I want to talk about which I’ll get the chance to in my papers, But I will keep those a surprise until we get to actually dive deep into the course.
Me personally, I never really focused on observing little noticeables or thinking too hard about group and their behaviors. I had a lot of mini groups in my classes but I never sat and thought about all the differences and similarities between how they act around each other and their chemistry with each other. I think I do very well in engaging with different cultures and communities. I mean that is very big part of where I live, probably the most diverse city in the entire world. This diverseness was best shown in my high school where I was able to mix well with people from all sorts of different cultures and communities. I typically treat my peers from different background with the same care as I put into my close friends from similar backgrounds to mine. There’s not really groups that spark into mind that catch my interest. If I can meet an individual that has different surroundings as me, I’m not all that concerned with how a group of multiple of this individual would be, I’m more concerned with this individual and getting more up close and personal with them. As for the course, there’s not really much specific topics I wanna know more about. Anything I get given, I can turn to gold, and I can promise I can deliver 5 star essays with any topic that thrown at me, whether it is anthropology or geopolitical science, I will deliver and I will come out of the topic smarter that before we started.
That is really all for this introduction. I hope you all have a splendid day if you’re reading this in the morning, and good nights rest if you’re reading this at night. I need to go to bed, I’m going to my friends BBQ tomorrow so I need rest. Take care peoples!
Hi Anto, I am also more excited about starting this class than I originally thought. fire shirt btw
Hey Anto, I felt the same way about the class at first. I thought it was gonna be nothing but long papers too . I am glad the syllabus made it feel more chill. I like how you talked about mixing with different groups, that’s definitely a skill. I think this class is going to help with noticing those little details even more.
No same, I also thought that this course was going to be noticeably difficult and I agreed when you said that you never had to see the differences and similarities between 2 groups/people. Knowing what to expect from the syllabus is still new to me, but soon we’ll get through this together. Hope we have a cool semester together.
Hi Anto, I actually felt the same, but after the great introduction Ms. Harris gave us, It gave me much more confidence to do my best and get the best from this course! hopefully We can all have a great experience together and create lot of good memories from it!
